Introducing Group Coaching

CycleCoach is excited to introduce our Group Coaching Programme. It’s our biggest change in the way we provide coaching since we moved to the internet!!

What is Group Coaching?

Group Coaching is an ideal way for many athletes to get their coaching. It’s more than a training plan, it’s training and coaching based around your goals, and your physiology, and can be modified to your time schedule. It’s a highly effective way to move you through your various training cycles, keep you on track, so that you can reach your goals and crush them. Additionally, not only will you have the support of your primary coach, but other coaches will provide support, and importantly, your peers - friends, team-mates, and others in the group will provide encouragement and help to answer your queries.

Group Coaching provides solid structured training that is both targetted towards your goals and is also fun, so that you keep coming back and doing the sessions. Various options allow more or less customisation. Pricing starts from the equivalent of just £8.75/week

How to Use Group Coaching

Once you’ve signed up for the coaching - you have options for an ongoing subscription paid every 4 weeks or 12 weeks, or just signing up for 12 weeks (paying 4 weekly, or in one go), you’ll need to complete a simple questionnaire, which will allow your primary coach to gather some basic information about you, the events you’re aiming for and your goals. You’ll then need to sign up on our coaching platform partner (Finalsurge.com) and once connected to your coach, they’ll send you some set up instructions, connect you with a group of athletes who have similar goals/events, and provide your training for you. Your training will be based around your own personal physiology. Usually, in the first week or two of the programme you’ll be doing some self-testing so we can set your zones and dial in the intensity correctly for you. Many of the training sessions are available to download and use on Zwift or Trainer Road. The group is accessible via a dedicated phone/tablet app or computer.

Optional Customisation

It’s possible that some athletes may have more than one goal, or indeed some quite different goals. It could be that you’re doing Gran Fondo Road Races and criteriums (like me!), or time trials and gravel grinder events, or perhaps a triathlon and road racing. You have two options

1) Switch and Go. Maybe your goals are TTs and criteriums. It maybe that TTing is something you need to focus on, and so you might end up doing 8 weeks of TT training and then switching to criterium training for 4 weeks. Just chat with your coach to make sure it’s a good idea and Switch and Go!
2) For a small set up fee of £75, your coach will go through your prior training and plan out the remainder of the season for you, identifying, which groups you should be in and providing you with a detailed overview of the season suggesting which training you’ll need to follow

Our Community

One of the biggest benefits of our Group Coaching is the community. Whether this is your first endurance event, or you’ve been competing in races for 10 years you’ll want to connect with the others in your group. Maybe you need to ask a question about where to park for a specific event, or how to enter. Maybe you need advice on kit, or perhaps you need a bit of motivation to get you out of the door on a cold and gloomy Sunday morning, someone will be able to help you. Your coach will check in on the group daily, and answer or provide some motivation. We have message boards where non-urgent queries can be left, and our social wall for a variety of more immediate help. Or maybe you just want to post your latest training session to show what you’ve done, or ascertain if it was done correctly? Maybe you want to share the route because it was great! Our coaches are friendly and motivational, and our athletes love helping others too. Coaches host regular Q&A sessions as well.

What can you expect?

Improved fitness, greater power output, more speed, smashing races and your mates. Individual results vary, but Ian H gained his first win while on the programme and Jamie B found it very motivating and helped him increase his fitness.
