Fitness testing

CycleCoach offer fitness testing to both coached, and non-coached athletes. Our testing is the most effective way to ensure that you are training at the correct intensities, while also ascertaining what your potential is, and honing in on your strengths and weaknesses. After the test, while you relax in our tranquil surroundings Coach Ric will talk you through your weaknesses and strengths and suggest areas that you need to work on.

Fitness testing should be undertaken at least once per year, so that your progress can be monitored and your training adjusted accordingly. Testing is best conducted prior to the race season beginning or prior to any training adjustments being made, so that the effectiveness of the training can be analysed.

Testing is undertaken using a MAP test (maximal aerobic power output test). After a ~20-minute warm-up, the test starts very gently, and then gets progressively harder, until you can't do anymore. This is a progressive, incremental maximal ramp test.
