Path to Pro Coaching
PATH TO PRO COACHING
Coaching built for one goal — getting you to the professional ranks.
Most talented juniors and U23 riders don’t fall short of a pro career because they lack ability. They fall short because nobody ever gave them the complete picture — the training structure, the race craft, the nutrition, the recovery management, and the honest assessment of where they actually stand.
Path to Pro is built specifically for young riders who are serious about making cycling their career. Not a modified adult programme with a junior label on it — a purpose-built coaching relationship with the depth, frequency, and honesty that a genuine pathway to professional racing demands.
Path to Pro is built for riders pursuing a professional pathway — not as a guarantee of a contract, but as a coaching relationship designed to maximise your development and give you an honest view of where you stand.
Path to Pro is delivered exclusively by Ric Stern, who has been coaching cyclists with a power-based, evidence-led approach since 1997. Ric has taken athletes from junior and U23 racing to UCI contracts, national programmes (including GB, Australia, Ireland, and others), and elite world championships. He has coached world champions and Paralympic medallists.
He has also been in the peloton himself for 42 consecutive seasons — and knows the difference between fast for a junior and fast enough to get signed.
This is for you if…
• You’re a junior or U23 rider (typically 16–23) already competing at regional or national level with results that suggest genuine potential.
• You want coaching that goes beyond a training plan — race craft, tactics, recovery management, nutrition timing, and long-term career development.
• You’re willing to make cycling a priority and engage seriously with the coaching process.
• You want someone who will give you an honest assessment of your trajectory — not just encouragement, but a clear-eyed view of what needs to improve and whether a pro career is realistic.
• You want every key session reviewed, daily nutrition structured around your training load, and a coach you can reach throughout the week.
• You’re thinking long-term — building toward contracts, national programmes, or elite competition — not just next month’s race.
• If you’re under 18, parent/guardian involvement is included where appropriate to support communication, training, and planning.
This is not for you if…
• You’re a recreational or amateur rider without competitive ambitions at the highest level.
• You’re not prepared to make cycling a genuine priority alongside school, university, or work.
• You want short-term fitness gains rather than a structured long-term development pathway.
• You’re not ready to engage honestly with feedback — including feedback that may be challenging to hear.
What changes / what you get out of this
• A complete development picture, not just a training plan — race craft, tactics, mental resilience, and recovery management built into the coaching relationship alongside physical preparation.
• Every session reviewed in detail — unlimited file analysis means nothing goes unexamined and no patterns are missed as your training evolves.
• Nutrition matched to your daily demands — daily macro guidance ensures your fuelling supports high-performance training and recovery, not just race days.
• Quarterly physiological testing reviews — objective tracking of progression across the season, with the testing method agreed based on your location and available access.
• Honest, expert career guidance — Ric will tell you where you stand, what needs to change, and what a realistic pathway to professional racing looks like for you specifically.
• Strength built in from the start — integrated S&C programming designed for durability and power development at the level elite racing demands.
Getting started with Path to Pro
Path to Pro starts with a one-time £350 setup fee (covering your detailed assessment, initial plan build, and first coaching call), then £275/month (about $370) with a 3-month minimum commitment.
