MAP-based training, delivered to TrainingPeaks

A coach builds your training. Every four weeks. From your numbers.

Not an algorithm and not an off-the-shelf plan. A CycleCoach coach builds your four-week block around your MAP, FTP, available time and goal — using the ramp-test methodology Ric Stern developed and that Zwift, TrainerRoad and others now use. It lands straight in TrainingPeaks. Then, four weeks later, the same coach looks at what you actually did and builds the next one from it.

What you actually receive

A real block. Built for one rider.

This is an actual four-week block in TrainingPeaks — sessions, durations, intervals, strength and load, all shaped around one rider's numbers, time and goal. Yours is built the same way, around you.

An example block for a rider starting at CTL 60 with 15–20 hours a week available. The notes show how their inputs shaped the plan — yours will differ.

Not happy with your first block? We'll fix it

Tell us what's off and we'll rebuild it free—or refund your first block. We'd rather get it right than take money for a plan that doesn't fit.

Who builds your block

Real coaches. Not a recommendation engine.

Every block is built and reviewed by one of the CycleCoach coaching team — the same coaches who work with our one-to-one athletes. You'll be told who's building yours.

What riders say

The people building your block have been doing this a while.

MAP: The Build is new. CycleCoach isn't — we've been coaching cyclists since 1997. Here's what riders say about working with our coaches.

“Ric’s knowledge is unprecedented. Never got overtrained or felt undertrained — it is always balanced right. I have never met Ric.”
Jenda MobilThree years coached · Silver medal, Masters Nationals
“He took me from a 5:58 finish at Dakota Five-O in 2024 to a 4:45 finish and a podium in 2025. He puts out the plan early so you have time to plan your week.”
Todd EybergMasters racer, 52
“The preparation, information gathering and training structure was exactly what I needed — and to think we managed all this remotely.”
Bibhash DashTime trial PBs · 100-mile hilly sportive

These riders worked with CycleCoach's one-to-one coaching services, not MAP: The Build. The Build is newer — but it's built by the same coaches, using the same methodology. Read more reviews →

How it works

Simple. Personal. Delivered to TrainingPeaks.

You give us the information. A coach builds the block. Your sessions arrive ready to follow — and four weeks later, we do it again.

01

Tell us about you

Complete a short intake form with your numbers, goal, weekly availability, regular rides and any key constraints.

02

A coach builds your block

Ric, Neil or Charlotte creates your four-week block using CycleCoach's MAP-based methodology, and reviews it before it goes anywhere near your calendar.

03

It lands in TrainingPeaks

Your structured sessions appear in your TrainingPeaks calendar, ready to sync to your compatible training devices and apps.

04

Then we do it again

Four weeks later, your coach reviews what you actually completed and builds your next block from it. That's where progression comes from — successive blocks, each built off the last.

Common questions

Before you start

A person builds it. Your four-week block is built by Ric Stern, Neil Kent or Charlotte Farrant from your MAP, FTP, current fitness, available time, goals and constraints—using the MAP-based methodology Ric developed and that now underpins the ramp test in Zwift, TrainerRoad and other platforms. Nothing is generated and handed over unseen: a coach reviews it before delivery, so the result is fitted to you rather than issued to everyone in the same form.
Yes. Most riders take the annual option — £275 for 13 blocks, two of them free — billed once.

You can also pay £25 every four weeks instead, getting a new block each time, built from what you actually did in the last one.

Either way, that's deliberate. One four-week block won't transform anyone. Progression comes from successive blocks, each built off the last, which is why a coach reviews your completed sessions before building the next.

On the four-weekly option you can cancel any time before your next block is built. No notice period, no minimum term, no penalty.
One of the CycleCoach coaching team — Ric Stern, Neil Kent or Charlotte Farrant — the same coaches who work with our one-to-one athletes. You'll be told who's building yours, and the same coach reviews your completed sessions before building your next block.
No. If you already know your MAP, great—you can get it from a ramp test on Zwift, TrainerRoad, MyWhoosh, Rouvy or any smart trainer. If you don't know it, use our free MAP calculator to estimate it, or we'll build the MAP test into your first block so you can establish your number properly before the training progresses.
No. You need a TrainingPeaks account to receive your plan, but the free tier works perfectly well—that's what most riders use. There's no hidden TrainingPeaks cost on top of what you pay us.
For the bike, a power meter or a smart trainer—the plans are power-based, so you need one or the other. Plus a free TrainingPeaks account to receive the sessions, which sync to your Garmin, Wahoo or Zwift. If you've opted in to strength work, a gym makes it easier but isn't required—every exercise has a home alternative.
Four steps. Sign up, fill in a short intake form (your numbers, goal and the hours you have), then connect your TrainingPeaks account with one click. Your coach builds and reviews your block and delivers it to your calendar, usually within three working days. Before each new block, they review what you actually did and build the next one from it.
Life happens. If your week changes occasionally, you can move sessions around within TrainingPeaks. If your schedule changes substantially, tell us before your next block and we'll build the new one around your updated availability.
Two sessions a week, 45–70 minutes each, scheduled after your hard rides so they don't compromise your cycling. The programme follows the concurrent training protocol from Rønnestad's published research on cyclists—heavy, low-rep, cycling-specific.

A gym makes it easier, but it isn't required—every exercise has a home alternative using dumbbells, kettlebells or bands. Tell us what you've got access to on the intake form and we'll build around it.

Three levels, from never-lifted to trains-regularly. And if you'd rather not do strength at all, say so—we'll leave it out.
It's individualised training structure, built and reviewed by a CycleCoach coach—for riders who want a proper, personalised plan without full one-to-one coaching fees. If you later want ongoing contact, detailed ride-file analysis and regular bespoke adjustments, that's what our full coaching services are for. Start with The Build.
